Reviews of this Scottish Borders Abbeys & Da Vinci Code Tour

We recently took two of Rabbies day tours - Loch Lomond & Stirling Castle, and Rosslyn Chapel & Scottish Borders. We were very pleased with both tours. Our tour guide for the Rosslyn Chapel & Scottish Border tour, Allie, must have swallowed several history books and filled our heads to overflowing with facts and stories. He is quite dramatic in telling stories, and made us laugh on several occasions. My only negative comment might be the music he played in between stories. I felt it was not appropriate, very loud and perhaps could be offensive to some folks as the lyrics were rather crude. Aside from that, the tour was great. Borders/ Melrose Abbey/ Rosslyn Chapel - day trip from Edinburgh This was the better tour by far! The driver was knowledgeable and gave us a lot of balanced (not one-sided) information about sights and Scottish history/ culture etc. etc. We had enough time at the two main stops - Melrose and Rosslyn. (But I would caution that at Melrose if you want to spend time looking around, bring your own lunch because the Melrose stop is also a lunch stop). We also had two smaller stops to take photos along the way. Neither was a tourist trap. The scenery was gorgeous. The bus was small and our group was only about 10 people which is really nice. There are regular talks/ tours at Rosslyn and I really wanted to attend one of them. I went to the Rabbie's office the day before to confirm that the stop would coincide with the talk time and the helpful woman at the counter called Rabbie's head office to make sure that it would. If you want to see Melrose and Rosslyn in one day (as I did) and you don't want to hire a car, I would recommend the Rabbie's tour. We took the day trip to Roslyn Chapel and the Borders on the last day of our Edinburgh stay and had a wonderful time. It was fantastic to get out into the countryside and see Rosslyn Chapel as well as the Wallace Monument and the ruins of Melrose Abbey. Our guide was great with a constant flow of information even though he had to deal with a car sick customer. I have just returned from Edinburgh, and while I was there I booked 2 day trips with Rabbies Trail Burners. The first trip was to Rosslyn Chapel and the Borders area. Fantastic scenery and the only bit that spoilt the trip to Rosslyn Chapel was that we were not allowed to take any photos inside the chapel! The tours buses are clean, comfortable, with a maximum of 16 passengers. It is also fitted with huge windows on both sides from some great viewing. The driver/guides were knowledgeable about the routes and the local Scottish history.
